CHRONOLOGY:
Four TNA personnel travelling in a car stopped at a cellular phone kiosk
about 100 meters from the Polres. Two of the four went in to the store to
buy some phone credit, while the other two remained in the car. Brimob
came to the spot with menacing attitude. Trying to avoid any possible
incident, the two in the store quickly left the store but were yelled at
and chased by the fully armed Brimob. Brimob opened fire. One in the car
jumped out and ran away for safety, while the other one that remained in
the car, the driver (Mr. Syafruddin, 32), tried to drive away but bullet
killed him. The Red Cross (PMI) took the corps to hospital in Meulaboh.
Meanwhile, there are more than 100 GAM activists still in prisons and
detentions or disappeared after being taken.
