Indonesia hurdles Tokyo Meeting 16 May

Today 16 May 2003 Indonesia colonial authority arrested 5 GAM negotiators who are goitn to take part in Tokyo dialog. Those arrested are Sofyan Ibrahim Tiba, Nashiruddin Ahmad, Muhammad Usman, T. Kamaruzzaman, and Amni A. Marzuki. Ironically, this arrest was made right when they were on their way to airport to leave for Jakarta and then to Tokyo.

The attitude of the Indonesian government as such is clearly against moral norms of international relationship and at the same time it indicates that Indoensian government is not willing to solve the Acheh conflict throguh peaceful means.

The accusations made against them all fabricated and illogic. The police have used the authority to detain a person 1x 24 hours without proper legal procedure.

An undeniable fact is that Indonesian government is on the brink of collapse and the position of Megawati is not respected by the military (TBI). The military's guiding of Megawati has reached a dangerous point. Mega said "even though CoHA in Acheh will be revived, military operation will remain to be carried out"and this indicates two things. Firstly, Megawati does not fully knowledgeable about the substantial proble tha she is undertaking, Secondly, she said that because she was directed by the military.

The arrest of GAM negotiators indicates that Indonesia is not yet appropritate to stand among those civilized countries. This fact that the Indonesian people must accept, that they are still living in a state which does not fit the definition of a nations.Instead of thinking how to conquer the Achehnese people and to clap hands listening to the comments made by the high ranking officials of Indonesian military, which are thirsty of Achehnese blood, the Indonesian people must now think how to find more appropriate individuals to lead Indonesia in future, on Java island.
